Burton Borough is a vibrant and inclusive mixed school of 1160 students, situated on the Shropshire / Staffordshire border within the pleasant market town of Newport. Our location provides easy access to and from Shrewsbury, Stafford, Telford and Wolverhampton.

We are seeking to appoint a science teacher who:-
- Has strong subject knowledge and curriculum understanding.
- Shows a commitment to high‑quality lesson design.
- Demonstrates awareness of evidence‑based strategies such as retrieval practice, modelling, checking for understanding and scaffolded practice.
- Uses a range of formative assessment strategies, including cold calling, whole‑class response and structured questioning to identify misconceptions in science and adjust instruction in real time.
- Plans proactively to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND, through reasonable adjustments and adaptive teaching strategies.
- Establishes calm, purposeful classrooms through clear routines, front‑loading expectations and consistent application of behaviour strategies.
- Builds strong, respectful relationships with pupils, creating an environment where students feel safe to contribute and learn from mistakes.
- Works collaboratively within a team, sharing best practice and contributing to a strong departmental, school and Trust‑wide culture.
